The system
Our team attended a customer in Immingham, North Lincolnshire to service their Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan air source heat pump. The outdoor unit identification shown during the visit is a PUZ-WM50VHA R32 air-to-water heat pump with a nominal rated heating capacity of 5.0 kW at the stated rating condition.

Outdoor unit service checks
Coil & fan
The evaporator coil and fins were checked and cleaned as required, with leaves, debris and dirt cleared using an appropriate low-pressure cleaning method. The fan operation, casing and accessible internal areas were inspected for physical damage or signs requiring attention.
Pipework & drainage
Outdoor pipe insulation/lagging was inspected for weather-related deterioration. The condensate drainage arrangement was also checked to help ensure water can discharge freely without avoidable pooling or freezing risk.
Indoor and hydraulic system checks
The service included cleaning applicable water strainers/filters, checking system water pressure and flow, and checking for trapped air within the hydraulic circuit. Valves or pump settings can be adjusted where necessary for the individual system.
The system fluid's glycol/anti-freeze concentration was tested. The photograph from this visit records the refractometer check carried out as part of the service. Relevant hot-water-cylinder safety devices, including temperature and pressure relief arrangements where fitted and within the service scope, were also checked.
FTC controller and system settings
The Mitsubishi FTC (Flow Temperature Controller) settings were reviewed as part of the service. This can include checking weather-compensation settings and heating schedules so that the controls are appropriate for the property and system configuration.
Following the checks, the customer is provided with a service record covering the work undertaken and the system's operational condition at the time of attendance.
