How efficient is the appliance? This considers the useful heat delivered from the electricity consumed. How much will it cost to run? This also includes the electricity tariff, building heat loss, operating hours, zoning and control settings.

Why property heat loss comes first
The cheapest unit of energy is the one the building does not need. Appropriate insulation, draught reduction and effective controls can reduce demand before equipment is selected. Improvements must suit the building, with ventilation and moisture considered properly.
